Zanesville Stoneage Modern ... in pink?
Submitted by scottlindberg on Wed, 05/28/2008 - 6:34pm
I've been collecting Zanesville Stoneage Modern for a few years, thanks to a recommendation from Craig McCormick in response to a question I had about affordable modern planters. The line's color palette is one thing that continually surprises me, though. Today when surfing eBay, I came across [a planter in pink: revised to remove dead link]. While a relatively common shape, I've never seen this glaze before ... and while I've been aware of the existence of an orange treatment, I hadn't heard of pink before today. So far, I have seen or own examples in the following colors:
- White (opaque)
- White (foamy, milky & semi-transparent)
- "Quince" - a tan or buff color
- "Sandstone" - a foamy Green/Blue/Grey
- "Golden Poppy" - a matte burnt orange that Zanesville marketing materials call a "silicone-based finish"
- "Saxony Blue"
- "Cannon Black"
- Pink (as of today)
How about you? Any other colors we can add to the list?

ZSC Stoneage Modern colors
I have seen the pink. I've also seen gloss dark brown, golden yellow matte and pale blue gray. I think the pink was a later color.
Looking on ebay under the search "zsc" I see also cobalt blue.
I think it might be interesting to catalog all of the shapes. I've kept most of my big shapes, but sold many of the cylinders that I once owned.

Another Color?
I just picked a new one up this afternoon:
It's difficult to describe and photograph the color accurately, but the best I can come up with is it's a dingy greenish yellow: somewhere between mustard and chartreuse.

Another color
Just yesterday I picked up a Stoneage Modern pot in a color I haven't seen before: a very glossy darkish terracotta. Not orange, not brown, not red, but somewhere in between. It's nice!

Shape Catalog
I agree that putting together a catalog of all the Stoneage Modern shapes would be a interesting, albeit exhausting, project. With so many shapes, and each shape being available in so many sizes, the list would be enormous. I nominate you to tackle it, Craig!
