A Sohn Retrospective

A Sohn Retrospective
The latest exhibition at the breakfast room museum. I think you folks have seen most of this already, but recently, I decided to pull everything together I had spread out in storage and put it on display.

Re: A Sohn Retrospective
Your Sohn Retrospective brightened my day! Top mid-shelf--the covered dish and brass stand--I don't think I've seen that before. Any chance you could post a picture of it or direct me to one? Thanks!
Re: A Sohn Retrospective
wonderful! Thanks for posting this retrospective.
Re: A Sohn Retrospective
Sweet display, Scott!
Re: A Sohn Retrospective
I had the good fortune of picking up the piece on the bottom shelf, right front, at the Alameda (San Francisco) flea market today. I think it's relatively challenging to find these pieces with their lids and stands intact.
Re: A Sohn Retrospective
Wow! Sometimes you don't realize how great a designer is until you see such a retrospective.
Re: A Sohn Retrospective
If you posted the Doric coffee pot shown in your photo next to the same, but simplified, coffee pot in your picture on the top shelf, which one would you prefer? Typically I would choose the less ornamented shape, but in this case, I definitely prefer the Doric design--with the added Greek column flavor. It just seems more visually interesting. The brass finial also adds an accent that surpasses the purely utilitarian ceramic knob.
Re: A Sohn Retrospective
I'd have to agree with you in this case. I prefer the visual and tactile texture you get with the ribbed version. I think I might prefer the smooth shape if it had come in a few cool, solid colors...perhaps two-tone with the white lid and interior.
