Rosemary Lax, hyalyn

hyalyn, Rosemary Lax design 1972
hyalyn catalog 1972

Found it interesting to see Rosemary Lax as a designer in a 1972 hyalyn catalog.

She was married to Michael Lax from 1950 untill 1978 they met at Alfred university in N.Y.

Where he studied modern ceramics. There are two styles of vases bottom of this page.

I like both of them. I have never seen one outside of this catalog.

I really like those two styles of vases at the bottom that you mention.  Very cool!

WOW!  Shapes 159 and 164 are must-have pieces.  I hope that someday, someone is able to write a book on this somewhat under-appreciated company.  Their output was incredible.

Very cool (and interesting) share!  I could swear that I've seen one of the 164s before.  Maybe at one of the past Cinci mcm shows.

Agree, 159 and 164 are incredible. 164 in Gold is drool-worthy. Neat info about Mrs. Lax!

p.s - Any legal issues posting this catalog? Hope not, 'cuz it's sweet.

Re: Rosemary Lax, hyalyn

I wouldn't think so, I tried to contact the daughter of the founders of the company a few years back. And she recently died.

They sold the co. in 1973 after Leslie Moody  died. This may be the second to the last of the catalogs printed while they still owned the co.

Hope I'm not taking to much liberty by posting it. Maybe Mike could help answer that.
