Metlox Corinthian Horse with Roche Vase & Marshall Studios Lamp
A couple more recent finds to share at Modish.net today. The Corinthian Horse is from Metlox Potteries "Art Treasures of the World" line. The Roche Vase is shape number 26. The lamp base is from Marshall Studios (Gordon and Jane Martz).

Re: Recent Finds
It really is a treasure! Great name for the line. Gorgeous! The back drop is equally eye pleasing.
Re: Recent Finds
What a cool piece of Metlox and a great grouping of pottery.
Re: Recent Finds
Love the Roche vase, and the Metlox is very cool. I've never seen a piece of this Metlox line in the wild.
Re Metlox Corinthian Horse
That's magnificent! The mosaic portion looks so much like the Metlox Mosaic Tropicana Originals line. Great photo too, looks like a magazine cover!
Re: Re Metlox Corinthian Horse
According to Carl Gibbs' book on Metlox, the in-mold mosaic patterns of both lines were created by Bob Allen. One Metlox archival photo shows both displayed together.
Re: Recent Finds
I love to horse, what a fantastic object, he would look great in my Zoo :-))
Re: Recent Finds
Thanks for all the positive comments! I'm a big fan of Metlox Potteries but had only seen photos of this artware line until this horse came along. According to the Metlox Potteries book by Carl Gibbs Jr., this line was available in two color schemes -- the one you see here and "a special white crackle glaze, reminiscent of old Chinese techniques". At this time, I'm partial to the glaze treatment seen on this horse.
Re: Recent Finds
Fun piece and great photo! I recall spotting the crackle glaze one at some point in my thrifting/antiquing but didn't recognize it and passed it by.
