The Newest MCM Dinnerware Collector

Hello all! I apologize for my absence here on MODish.net lately ... but it's not without good reason. Kate and I are excited to introduce you all to the newest Midcentury Modern dinnerware collector (that we know of): our daughter Franziska Jean Nesse-Lindberg was born on February 18th at 4:25 am. She weighed 8lb 13oz at birth, and both she and mom are happy and healthy.
Izzy (as we call her) will be beginning life eating off of Russel Wright's Residential Melmac dinnerware, although we hope she will eventually find joy in Iroquois Casual China ... because she's going to inherit a lot of it!
As Izzy, Kate, and I slowly get into our new routine, I hope jump right back into playing a more active role here as a moderator on MODish.net. I thank you all for your kind emails and words of support over the past few days. This really is a WONDERFUL community of collectors, and I feel very grateful to count each of you as my friend and colleague.

This is an invited (I'm not shy about asking) and welcome use for MODish's blog. And Scott, you tied it in to the theme so very well! I hope that someday others will share a little about their lives in an equally 'creative' manner (you don't have to make a baby to do it). If members can come up with a tag line as creative as "The Newest MCM Dinnerware Collector", we will all applaud!

Wee Moderns
We always have Eva Zeisel's Wee Moderns. Or I should say, Scott V does.
So rare ...
Wee Moderns is so rare, I wouldn't be surprised if Scott V was virtually the only person to have a set! I certainly wouldn't be using it with a baby if it were in my collection (no offense, Izzy) for fear of damaging it. I'd consider Russel Wright's child's set, but still would be nervous about it. I like the indestructibility of plasticware in this instance, I guess!

Hey Mike, if you recall, I only found the Wee Modern bowl and cup at Atlantic City. I scored the plate a few months later on ebay! I know of two other complete sets--the one shown in Jo Cunningham's dinnerware book and another Chicago collector has a complete set.
An amazing 'universe'...
This creation is an amazing place. We are are often given both our 'needs' and our 'wishes'. Dream big. I see a right-handed Town & Country salad spoon in your future.
