Two recent ebay auctions for Red Wing Buffet Royale ware caught my eye (#3760307939 & #3761768478). Both were for multiple pieces that included wood serving stands.

I don't actually know what these colors are called on Denwar Bantu except that they are new to me and I couldn't find any published reference to them.

Tropical Fish Casserole from the Metlox Tropicana line. Finding this in a western Nebraska antique mall a couple of years ago was a surprise. It wasn't a bargain but the fish design hooked me.

Designed by Michael Lax, these Hyalyn Raymor Capri cylinder vases sold recently on ebay. I thought they were too fabulous not to bid on and was somewhat surprised to win the auction.

With pattern names like Golden Viking and Northern Lights, it's impossible for me to not think of Scandinavia (okay, Minnesota also).

The Metlox Luau pattern on the Navajo/Tempo shape included a tall coffee pot with stoppered lid but I've never seen one.

I can't help but think the designer of this pitcher currently listed on ebay (item #330179423921) was influenced by Ben Seibel's work. Is that too much of a stretch?

This recent find is unmarked but I believe it is a W. S. George Ranchero teapot in the Gael Plaid Tweed pattern.

I'm reasonably certain this is a Heath pitcher. Since it's unmarked, I assume it must be an early production item.

It seems that starting a blog on John D. Gorbutt, Jr. and the Gorbutt-Bowman Pottery Division of Gorbutt and Co. is in order. After learning that a Master’s Thesis on John D. Gorbutt, Jr. was on file at Kansas State University, I submitted a request for a 30-day loan of the circulating copy and picked it up yesterday! The thesis is 157 pages long and includes photos of paintings, kinetic light sculpture and even butter sculpture. I did a quick survey but there’s clearly a lot to explore.
