Beachcomber
One of my two favorite decorations from Bellaire, the other being Mardi Gras. I love this, Brad. I swear, when it comes to the decorative side of ceramics, you have the market cornered! Terrific find!
Gym inspiring
That's the coolest human figure illustration ever!! Is this line pretty rare?
Does anyone know the Bellaire pattern that's pink and black, and it has jesters on it? I once found a big ameoba shaped dish with that decoration on it at a thrift shop and have always wondered about it.
Jesters
That's the Mardi Gras pattern I referred to.
Peppermint Stick
Wow-wee.. that's cool!!!!!!!!
Awesome!
This Peppermint Set is really amazing! Scott, I think you should buy it and invite us over for the first Modish get-together! ;-)
modish get-together
You know, that's funny. I had been thinking we should have a MODish get-together!
Ha Ha...right!
I say we just go all the way and charter a new lodge...the I.O.M.D. or International Order of Mod Dishers...with funny hats, a sercret handshake, and an annual convention.
Marc Bellaire
Marc Bellaire is one of my favorites! Check out the lamp gallery - I have a Peppermint Stick lamp and a Mardi Gras lamp out there. Beachcomber is a great pattern. There is so little documentation out there on Marc Bellaire patterns, etc. Unique pieces pop up quite often on ebay!
Marc Bellaire
I have a catalog that Marc Bellaire had for molds they sold for others to decorate. The molds have his patterns on the shapes. I'm not sure that the names are anything different than what is already out there. I'll check later tonight. There are many more patterns than what are documented in the catalog. One of Leslie Pina's books, I think it is Designed and Signed, has a section on Bellaire. Let me check on that when I get home. I think her pattern names are likely manufacturer names.
Ceramic Molds Catalog
The ceramic molds catalog shows molds for sale with Bellaire decorations, but unfortunately, no names of the patterns can be found. It does provide some mold numbers for the shapes that were available to the public for decoration and I have the inserted list of distributors for the Marc Bellaire molds. It looks like mostly ceramic and pottery studios from coast to coast. Oh, that one of these studios still was around and had the original molds! It is Leslie Pinas book Designed and Signed that has wonderful photographs of many Bellaire items.

Modern Order of Design
Modern Order of Design and International Society of Hip.
That's it!
Done deal...I love it...I'll start working on the initiation rites...
I second the motion!
I used to host annual Russel Wright discussion group get-togethers and they were so much fun. I would love to continue the tradition with the Modish group.
Now, when and where are we all going to meet?! ;-)
Chicago. I third the motion!
Scott, Chicago would be a great place to meet first time around! Looks like you already have a funny little hat for secret membership in the Modern Order of Design & International Society of Hip.
schweet!
I like that one, Mike!!!
Peppermint Stick
If I am recalling correctly, this was the punch bowl listing? The 19" punch bowl had a 4-gallon capacity and came with 12 cups and a ladle. It was offered on sale during Christmas 1954 at $60! That was $26 off the regular retail price. No wonder these things rarely pop up. [Crockery & Glass Journal, September 1954, p. 25].
