java jive
Submitted by nostalgiaholic on Wed, 09/01/2010 - 11:14am
...I like coffee. I like tea. I like the java jive and it likes me... I have the Manhattan Transfer running through my head as I post this...
Hello again, everybody. I hope you all are well. It's been a busy week, and I'm so looking forward to the Labor Day weekend. The weather is supposed to be great here, too.
I was kind of stumped when considering a topic for this weeks klatch, then I started thinking 'small'. In general, I don't collect alot of smalls, but a few always manage to find their way home. I just know there are MODish members out there who also have a cache of the small stuff, and then I began wondering how you folks display your treasures. Finally, it dawned on me. If you're a collector, and furnish your abode in the mcm style, odds are you have at least one shadow box. So, I thought I would throw down a friendly challenge...show off your shadow box. Here's the one I have...

Re: java jive
Took a shot of the autumn clematis outside of my kitchen window...fall is on its way...
Re: java jive
Great photos, all!
Re: java jive
Wow! I came home from up North, and saw that my sweet autumn was starting to bloom and thought, "I'll post it in the Klatch". I fire up the 'puter this a.m. and what do I see!!! Mine grows up my fence and onto a pine tree where it looks like snow when it's in full bloom. I will post a picture when it's in it's glory.
Re: java jive
he he...great minds think alike, I guess. Post a pic when your's is in its full glory. I'm lucky to have a long run of clematis along my neighbor's fence and next to my driveway. I love when the breeze catches the fragrance...
Re: java jive
I forgot about this clematis on my arbor! This one is in full bloom! i gotta get out in the yard more.
Re: java jive
A watched bud never blooms! I got tired of waiting, so here it is, not quite yet in its glory. But it does smell sweet!
Re: java jive
Boy, I bet that does look like snow on the spruce when it's going full guns...should be any day now. So cool that it's an heirloom cutting from your family, too. My clematis peaking now...really fragrant and full of bees everyday.
Re: java jive
OMG. Yours looks just like the one from my childhood home(the one I have is actually from the same stock) Right down to the chain link fence. I remember coming home turning into the front of my parent's house and the smell hit you before the sight of that sea of white running long the top of the entire fence. Thanks for the memories!
Re: java jive
Your lighter collection is really cool. But what I love most about this picture, Scott, is the finger on the button of the camera and the neatly stacked boxes in the background and the unexpected peak into your dish dungeon.
Re: java jive
he he...I know...I tried to get out of frame, and even thought about using the timer, but was coping with other issues, lol. This pic was kind of a pain, actually. The box is tucked back in a corner, so the angle is scewed. I couldn't use a flash. The mirror and the back ground, etc. Come to Cinci again, btw, and you can have more than a peek at the wall o' boxes
Re: java jive
Alas, I have lots of smalls, but no shadow box. Too bad I could not foresee the challenge. I saw three shadow boxes similar to yours at the all nighter at three different vendors. I coulda been a contender!!
Re: java jive
Hey now, show us anyway wadogum. I didn't mean to limit things only to a shadow box. Come on, get out that camera and start shooting.
Re: java jive
My smalls are all buried in the basement under my husbands stuff. The only ones that are out are my 50's and 60's porcelain German Shepards, and I don't think this is the correct place to show them.
What is everyone going to do on this long weekend? I was invited to a friends home in the Upper. Or I could stay home and dig out the smalls......Hmmm.
Re: java jive
ha ha...that's a no brainer. I'd be headed for the UP in a heart beat. I'm envious...I'll be restoring the railing on my back porch this weekend. I feel sorry for the folks on the east coast. Looks like Earl may spoil their holiday plans.
