Re: Mikasa
Sweet piece, Mike. I love the font used for Millennium.
Re: Mikasa
really cool, it is like an abstract rooster!
Re: Mikasa
I guess this post-modernist stuff is becoming all the rage...again.
Re: Mikasa
I just bought it because it was sitting there for $13 in perfect shape in a mid-century modern store. I was very surprised.
It's really the antithesis of mid-century modern and certainly not my focus. But I have lived with it now for a few days and I finally get Memphis. It's a breakout to exuberant fun without worrying about timelessness or functionality. It realizes it is an ephemeral joyful and delicate bubble on the wind of time. It made me smile for about a day or so. I'm going to leave it out for about a month, if I can, and see what my reaction is then.

t r a d e. I, of course, love it.
Re: Mikasa
Without digging out a number of boxes, we have this in a complete set, very cool. Along with, I think, 5 or 6 other colors, with some being nearly full sets to just partials. If interested I could pull a few of the other color/pattern/pieces. There is 2 grays lt. and dark), a light and a dark blue, can't remember beyond that, at this moment. Obviously we think they are fabulous.
Re: Mikasa
Great piece of Memphis style design. Thre was a nice little push in the late 80's to mimic the Memphis group led my Ettore Sottsass. Obviously, these pieces were lower in price and, frankly, not nearly as bizarre as much of what I call "true" Memphis. Great design is still great design...it's just not as valuable in the collectible market. Your purchase is a real steal! Great find, too.
