Laurel of California Christmas pieces
Submitted by Padraig on Wed, 01/25/2012 - 2:05am
Red glaze by Laurel on SeaSide shape Creamer and [?] Sugar
That's a speckled gloss Red. Yes, Red. RED. Not Photshop faked næ. For Christmas(es).
Serious bonus points for answer: Who here can identify the SHAPE of that Laurel sugar?

Re: Laurel of California Christmas pieces
I have to say that since I've been collecting Laurel I've never seen that color or run across that sugar shape in person. If there was a line with that sugar in it, I suspect the line name may have changed. No answers here but loving the question.
Re: Laurel of California Christmas pieces
Amazing. Quite an anomaly for Laurel. Don't have a clue re your quiz, but love it the post. Thanks for sharing.
Re: Laurel of California Christmas pieces
Wow, you have some very cool and really obscure Laurel pieces! I'm going to guess, based on the grouping in this photo, that at some point Seaside was restyled. (In Mike's book there is a 'mystery' shape teacup, samples of which I found mixed in with my own very first score of Seaside, so one could assume -- incorrectly -- that they were sold in mixed lots.) As for what to call this mystery shape, I think I've heard of Seaside also being called "Sunset," and as this doesn't look like Holiday, Mariposa, Life, Living or Cerama Stone, I'll go with SUNSET.

Wow, Padraig, I'm pretty fond of the standard Laurel colors, but these are treasures. I always envy your amazing collection.
