Don Drumm knobs

I think I've mentioned that I am renovating my kitchen.

I had the cabinets refinished so I could use Don Drumm knobs.

Here's is one set of 10 pairs that I ordered.

Don Drumm is a world famous cast aluminum artist from Akron Ohio.  His studio/store near Akron U is considered one of the finest gift shops in America.

His work tends to the brutal but he also has a naturalist streak, a Sun Face being a recurrent theme in his works.

Damn, these things look good on the drawers and doors!

Nice!  I'll be interested to see pics of the cabinets when the knobs are installed.

I found a couple of pieces of Drumm's work in a thrift store several years ago - didn't know a thing about him until then, but quickly appreciated his work.

Those are fabulous!   Did he also work in copper?

The molds for those are a nice shape for chocolates, too.  REALLY NICE for door knobs & drawer pulls.

Re: Don Drumm knobs

I can't believe this, but I have you to thank for the fact that I recognized a cast aluminum sun face (dish?  ashtray?) at a thrift shop today and brought it right home-if it's not Don Drumm it's his long lost twin!  It's older, I think - nothing exactly like it at the website, but I have a question: what kind of care is recommended?  Can I polish it with a metal polish?  It's not got specific oxidized parts, but rather an overall matte-ish finish.  I would leave it as is, but there are a couple of darker spots in the carved out face part of the sun face (it's like a 1" deep bowl with wavy rays coming out from the top of the bowl).  I didn't see care instructions at the website -- did I just miss them?  I have some nambe pieces that I polish up to a gorgeous shine, but I don't think this could evenhave such a shine, as it's rather rough in texture.  I'd just like the browner areas to go away.  Any ideas?  THANKS SO MUCH for introducing me to Mr. Drumm's work!
