I've seen this lamp style out and about in the Midwest through the years. If it is handcrafted, perhaps there was a "build" plan in an old DIY magazine from the day.

I just ran across this lamp while looking for something else - it calls it a "Venetian blind" lamp? AFAIK, Venetian blinds were made of metal until the late 70s/early 80s or so - doesn't seem that would allow much light to pass through (around.) Or maybe they just called it that because of the appearance of the bands. Anyway, interesting...?
