Big Brutal Sascha Brastoff Esplanade vase for Haeger

Big Brutal Sascha Brastoff Esplanade vase for Haeger
Earlier in the year I showed the Armadillo figure designed by Sascha Brastoff for Haeger circa 1971.
At the Wisconsin Pottery Show this August, I was lucky enough to obtain this stunning vase. It's about 15 inches tall, so quite a big wonderful piece to enjoy. At the top, it's 12-by-8, so rectangular in shape. Altho I knew of it from the catalogs, this is the only time I had ever seen this shape. This series is usualyy referred to as Esplanade, and the glaze is Roman Bronze, a metallic copper and green combination glaze.
Sorry I only got to show one side of it, but each of the 4 sides are unique and different.
The only mark is the old Haeger store sticker, holding the shape number that matches the catalogs. Interesting how similar this tag is to the ones used in the 1990s and even more recently - an amazing level of consistency for Haeger!
Enjoy!

This looks like something teleported from an early Star Trek episode. Who would have ever thought this was Haeger?

A brute,Yes! But a handsome brute. Very eye candy.

Your Haeger collection continues to surprise and impress. Thanks for posting this! The surface texture of the vase reminds me of ancient obsidian arrowheads.

Thanks again Duke for making Haeger look so good. Hard to understand that important work happened there, considering their famous tendancy to market what sells, especially as we wade through the common floral business pieces they continue to pump out. But your collection definitely points out some of their high points. Thanks for so many generous shares on Modish.

Any connection here of designer or potter to Stangl Pottery? The glaze color here is so similar to their Antique Gold line, which I also thought Haeger also produced.
