Re: Austria Pitcher
Beautiful.
Re: Austria Pitcher
It is a Keramos piece from 1959/60
Re: Austria Pitcher
You are so generous with your knowledge K. Thank you SO MUCH. When I spent time with Keramos, all I was finding was ornate heads and figurines. I will now change the trajectory of my search. From what I've seen to date, not a ton of info exists on modern designs by them. I have seen this particular line in Pips inventory, but not a whole lot more.
Re: Austria Pitcher
It's amazing the info Kevin can glean from just a shape and a mold number
Re: Austria Pitcher
My European form numbers index grows daily. I have over 120,000 diffrent shape/form numbers in my West German Pottery index, which is now 1200+ numbers higher than the current Book/CD shows, but i have catalogs raining down on me at the moment. I recently started a European wide form numbers index as i do have pieces from many other countries. I am also working on a project with a University Professor in North Germany to produce a shape/design index, by drawing the outline of pieces on a graphics tablet, this is going to take time, it wont be for general release, but will be going into the Museums & Universities all over Germany as a shape record.
Re: Austria Pitcher
Wow...120K for West German alone. That's incredible. Seems like 120K would cover most of Europe.
Re: Austria Pitcher
It reminds me a lot of Eva Z. Nice piece!
Re: Austria Pitcher
Thanks K. I think you're right.
Re: 1959/60 Austria Keramos Pitcher
A lovely pitcher--and a lovely picture. I appreciate the artfulness of the shot. Placement of highlights and that drop of dark interior --shapes echoing, curves complementing--a composition replete and meditative.
Re: 1959/60 Austria Keramos Pitcher
Thanks! How you described the shot is really consistent with the way the piece spoke to me as well. Neat that that is communicated in some way in the photo. I have been eyeing this piece for over a year at an antique mall, and ended up buying it somewhat recently when normally 95% of my collection is from thrift. The shape, color and decoration are really harmonious to me.
Thanks for your input.
